Mr Baritone

With a few years of live solo gig experience in pubs, hotels, restaurants & events; Mr Baritone now performs great old covers & traditional songs at Aged Care Homes, RSLs, Sports Clubs & Community Clubs.

Mr Baritone is Matty Bateson with his unique, powerful, diverse & warm vocal tones, & Maton acoustic guitar with loop pedal. Matty has excellent quality sound gear & live gig experience since 1999.

Matty volunteered for almost 2 years at Pres Care Vela Carina, then in June 2017 performed his first Aged Care gig there. This went so well & inspired him to seek more gigs for the elderly there & elsewhere!

Since 2003 Matty has been performing in & managing the well-established Covers Band, Trio & Duo “Punchline”. He is the lead & rhythm guitarist with some lead vocals sharing with lead vocalist Jeunesse Douglas.

Matty’s full repertoire consists of a wide variety of great cover songs – Pop, Rock, Funk, Reggae, Country, Traditional, Folk, Soul, Classics, Gospel, Blues & a hint of Jazz; with the occasional original song of his own. He has a lower range baritone voice & adapts to songs accordingly. People often comment on how well he covers Johnny Cash! Even with this powerful lower range, Matty can also sing very softly and through some higher tenor ranges. Matty has always been great with the audience providing quality entertainment!
